WISH ALL OUR MUSLIM PATRONS A JOYOUS
RAMADAN & EID AL FITR MUBARAK
In appreciation of our Muslim patrons:
Ramadan, the word comes from the Arabic word meaning “parched thirst”. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is when Muslims from all continents unite in a period of fasting and spiritual reflection.
It purely expresses the hunger and thirst felt when fasting for a long period of time, Ramadan is truly a time of sacrifice for all Muslims. It is through fasting that a Muslim experiences hunger and thirst, and empathizes with those around them who have very little to eat every day. During this holy time Muslims show more devotion and feel closer to their Creator, and recognize that everything they have in this life is a blessing from Allah.
Ramadan is a time of fasting, reflection, devotion, generosity and sacrifice. Muslims are given an opportunity to change their routine and establish healthier lifestyle habits, especially with regards to diet and smoking.
The last few days of Ramadan, Muslim families donate to the poor. Donations may consist of actual food such as rice, barley, and dates etc. Thus enabling the needy to eat a hearty meal and participate in the Eid celebration, donations are referred to as sadaqah al-fitr (charity of fast-breaking).
Eid Al Fitr is considered an important religious Muslim celebration held at the end of Ramadan, Muslims throughout the world collectively observe a joyous three-day “Festival of Fast-Breaking”. Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal, the month that follows Ramadan in the Islamic calendar.
At the dawn of Eid al-Fitr, Muslims go to the mosque to pray, give in charity, and celebrate the completion of the fast of Ramadan. This is considered a time to give back to society especially to charity and those in need. Festive gatherings are traditionally held with family and friends filled with countless blessings and joy.
